The aim of this course is to provide you with fundamental knowledge in food packaging techniques. You will study a variety of topics beginning with an introduction to food packaging, and the use of packaging materials such as glass, metals, paperboard, corrugated paperboard, plastics and polymers used in the food industry.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to explain the function of food packaging materials, closure systems, the use of adhesives, printing and package labelling. Unique food packaging applications including aseptic packaging, modified atmospheric packaging and sustainable packaging will also be examined.
